Day 11 – Logroño to Navarette
Date: 12 September 2018
Departure Time: 07:55 am
Arrival Time: 11:20 am
Distance: 12.8 kms
Cumulative Distance: 178 kms
Percentage Completed: 19.25%
Accommodation: Hotel Rey Sancho
Weather: Warm, clear skies – 28 degrees
Today was a very short walk of 13 kilometres to Navarette. We initially walked through the outskirts of Logroño which was unremarkable, and then proceeded to a recreational reserve which was just as unremarkable. The last third of the walk was through heavily fruit laden vineyards, which are always a welcome sight.
We are staying at Hotel Rey Sancho in Navarette. We have a massive room with an amazing view. The most remarkable part of the day is the gothic church, which has a simply stunning Baroque retablo. We spent the best part of an hour being in awe of it. Navarrette itself is a very picturesque town. The weather is perfect and we enjoyed some excellent tapas for lunch. As we write this it is 6.45 pm and we are sitting in a plaza with the locals drinking gin and tonics. Not too shabby at all. Off to partake in a pilgrims meal soon.
Another relatively easy day tomorrow with only 16 kilometres to Nájera.

I have only started reading the blog and its is stirring up the memories of our last trip. Looks like you are having a great walk, I am happy to see Mark is still taking time to smell the occasional rose and has kept up the with the traditional door photo. More please Mark. Great writing Debra.
One of my favourite towns… ♥️??
