Only 80% of our pilgrims walked today as Cindy on medical advice decided not to walk and catch a taxi again. Taxi travel in Spain is very interesting and Cindy is accumulating some fascinating stories.
The walk was pleasant, with the Meseta being more pleasant than people would have led us to believe. There were two highlights of the day – one was unexpectedly coming across the ruins of the 12th century ruins of Monastery San Anton which was dedicated to healing pilgrims suffering from leprosy. The second highlight was approaching Castrojeriz with stunning views of the ruins of Castrojeriz castle.
We stayed at La Posada which was very comfortable, however Cindy stayed at El Meson Castrojeriz. During a very pleasant 3 course Pilgrim meal for €10 we witnessed our first major Spanish storm.
Julia, Geoff and Debra are relatively injury free but Mark insists on acquiring a daily blister.
