Day 2 – Orisson to Roncesvalles
Date: 23 April 2017
Departure time: 07:25
Arrival Time: 14:30
Distance: 17 kms
Cumulative Distance: 25 kms
Percentage Completed: 3.2%
Accommodation: Hotel Roncesvalles
Weather: Sunny, clear 18 degrees
Thoughts:
Debra – Stunning scenery – relieved that it is over
Mark – An ever changing panorama – tiring but extremely worthwhile
Julia – Felt like I was on top of the world – euphoric because I made it
Geoff – Soaked in the panorama – comfortable walk
Cindy – Sad to leave the view but happy to move on – content
We continued our climb over the Pyrenees, with the path going seemingly ever upward. Once again, the panorama was spectacular. We were part of a very steady trail of pilgrims with the vast majority of whom were very friendly and ready for a chat. The main nationalities appear to be Americans, Canadians, French and Australians with an assortment of Europeans. A local told us the perfect weather we had was most unusual and we should consider ourselves very fortunate.
We are spending the night at Roncesvalles at Hotel Roncesvalles. The hotel is great value for money and we just had a high quality Pilgrim menu for dinner which also included wine – all for €17 per person. Other places in town are even cheaper. Everyone is in good spirits and health and looking forward to the 22 km walk to Zubiri tomorrow.

Hi Geoff and Julia – It sounds like you’re having an incredible experience. Told you at Burleigh we’d be good at the tapas and drinks. Keep having fun. Love Toni and Ron
