As predicted yesterday, we caught a taxi today. We had booked the taxi service courtesy of the man who worked behind the bar last night. What was interesting was that a taxi didn’t turn up, but one of his friends in a small sedan. Obviously, he is not a man to let a money making opportunity for a friend go by. We were not unduly concerned by this as the driver was prompt and had previously not trained as a  Formula 1 driver (like some previous legitimate taxi drivers). We arrived at Frómista at 11:30 am and, to our delight our room was available. There are three noteworthy points to Frómista – it has three amazing churches, a pharmacy that stocks every remedial foot product known to man, and no visible sign of life outside of stores or bars.

We are staying at Hotel Camino de Santiago, run by a charming couple and it has very quaint rooms. The GDP of Spain has been significantly bolstered by our purchase of footcare products at said pharmacy.

Tomorrow we intend walking a very flat and easy 20 kilometres to Carrión de Los Condes.

As we write this blog we are having our customary afternoon drinks in a charming garden bar listening to Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald. Pilgrimage is not for the faint hearted.

Sad to be not walking
