Debra – Long straight path of nothing
Mark – Incredibly boring and laborious but good for the feet
Today was basically a walk of nothing. The first 18 kilometres was walking down a bitumen then earthen road through fields of grain. The second 6 kilometres was walking down an earthen path next to a highway. It rained intermittently throughout the day and there was often a strong headwind. The only highlight was a very enjoyable lunch at a restaurant in Calzadilla de la Cueza. Notwithstanding the boredom, the route was extremely flat and easy and hence good for the feet.
We are staying the night at Albergue La Morena in Ledigos, which has lovely modern rooms which were a bargain at €55 per night. It was a hidden gem. Like a lot of little hotels in small Spanish towns the facade belies what is behind the walls.
We were very excited today at some point (not sure exactly when) we passed the half way mark. Apparently a number of small towns claim the honour of being half way, so who really knows. By our calculations it was somewhere near a big tree in the middle of nowhere.
Everyone is feeling good.
