Today was a pretty uneventful walk going largely uphill on straight paths. It was a nice change from the Meseta as we had more views. Mark was back on the trail today as he was feeling better. Rabanal was a beautiful little town though it was freezing cold. The highlight of the day was attending a church service in Latin conducted by local Benedictine monks.

We dined at a local restaurant and Geoff and Andy (from Brisbane) shared a local dish designed specifically for extreme carnivores.  It was called cocido maragato. Nobody at the table was clear as to how many animals (and what parts of such animals) were involved in the dish.

  1. I checked the recipe for Cochido Maragato. It had 9 different cuts of meat in the meat part of the dish, including something called Pork Oink! Not sure what that is. Don’t like to think too much about it!
