Day 41 – Rest Day Santiago de Compostela – Finisterre

Day 41 – Rest Day Santiago de Compostela – Finisterre

Date: 1st June 2017

Today we hired taxis to take us to Finisterre which is about 80 kilometres west of Santiago on the coast. Many pilgrims continue to walk to the beach and lighthouse to complete their pilgrimage. In days of yore, when people believed that the earth was flat, this was considered by many to be “the end of the world.” People often leave their boots behind at this point, and Julia obliged the custom. We also visited the beach where people frequently take off their clothes and run into the sea in their underwear. None of us obliged this custom.
