Today was our final day of walking after having left  St Jean Pied de Port 7 weeks ago. It really was quite surreal. The walk was only 15 kilometres, and for the main part was pleasant but unremarkable. However, once we reached the rugged coastline near Muxía, we became quite emotional. Muxía itself is a quaint coastal village of about 7000 inhabitants. What makes it outstanding is the tip of the peninsula on which it sits, which has significant Christian history. The tip is also very beautiful, with amazing views in all directions. Also situated at this point is an iconic church – Nosa Señora De Barca. In the great pilgrimage tradition, we sat there and watched the sun set over the ocean. It was very symbolic, as it also represented the sun setting on this Camino for us (but it won’t be the last!).  We were pleased to share these final moments with Deb and Chris from Australia, who had shared much of our journey with us.

Tomorrow is a new day, and we intend to watch the sun rise over Muxía.

  1. Epic, I was looking forward to seeing 1000km walked but I can live with 924.2. You now have truley experienced the entire Camino and have cemented memories for life.
