Day 5 – Rest day Pamplona

Day 5 – Rest day Pamplona

Date: 26 April 2017

Today was a rest day in Pamplona. It was a great chance to catch up on domestic chores such as laundry and purchasing essential supplies. Between the five of us, we bought a pair of thongs, a pair of shoes, a pair of shorts, a poncho, two bracelets and foot care items.  The highlight of the day for everyone, was a 45 minute foot massage.  Cindy proved she is a massage whore by sneaking in for a second massage in the afternoon. The second  highlight of the day, was what has become our afternoon ritual – sharing a jug of sangria.

Some sightseeing was also had, including the Plaza de Toros and the Cathedral de Santa Maria de Pamplona. Things we learnt today. Firstly, a Spanish minute is 1.5 times an Australian minute. Secondly, a paella for one is enough to feed a small army. Thirdly, it is humanly possible to consistently walk 44 kms per day if you are young and English. We met Chris (see photo below) who has been doing just that. We are ready to hit the trails tomorrow to Puente la Reina, a distance of approximately 24 kms.
