Today was a fairly uneventful walk passing the 150 kilometre mark. The weather was a bit more inclement today. For the first time we got some real rain but it didn’t last long. We strolled along side many vineyards and did a lot more road walking. The most memorable part of the day was having a lunch break in Viana in the pouring rain whilst the locals were trying to do an outdoor presentation for a cycling competition. We were huddled up against the wall eating our lunch in the blowing cold wind and rain whilst being impressed with the locals’ persistence during adversity.
Another highlight was trying to find our hotel which we had “wisely” booked in an area way off the Camino path. Whilst using GPS in the rain we encountered a number of friendly locals who thought we had accidentally veered off course and tried to redirect us back onto the Camino.
We are staying at Hotel Catalonia las Canas which is located in a large shopping mall with a cinema and bowling alley. It is kind of nice to be in an area with more locals and less pilgrims. We are all holding up well although Geoff has joined the blister party. It was reported in the local Logroño press that Cindy drained 3 litres from it last night.
